Georgia State Park vs WMA Archery Ranges: Cost per Visit
Georgia has two kinds of public archery range with two different ways of paying. State-park ranges charge a range fee plus the state-park parking fee. WMA and PFA ranges (Wildlife Management Areas and Public Fishing Areas) have no range fee, but everyone 16 or older needs a hunting or fishing license or a Lands Pass. This page puts the two side by side for one visit and for a year of visits.
The short answer
- One visit, Georgia resident: a WMA or PFA range is cheapest. The resident one-day combo hunting and fishing license is $5, plus a transaction fee. At a state-park range, one adult pays a $5–$10 range fee plus a $10 parking fee per vehicle.
- Regular visits: a resident annual fishing license ($15) covers every WMA and PFA range for a year. At Panola Mountain, an adult annual archery pass is $100 and only works there. On top of that comes parking, either the $10 daily ParkPass or the $70 annual ParkPass.
- The passes don't cross over. GA State Parks says: "The ParkPass is not valid at Wildlife Management Areas or Public Fishing Areas. These locations are covered by a hunting or fishing license or Lands Pass available from the DNR's Wildlife Resources Division."
- What the state-park fee gets you: the range websites list lessons or programs at Panola Mountain, Unicoi and Georgia Veterans. Most WMA and PFA ranges are listed as unmanned in the DNR dataset.
Cost of one visit, one adult
These figures leave out license transaction fees. WRD's 2022 notice put the online fee at $3.00 and says fees are subject to change.
| Range type | What you pay | One adult, one visit |
|---|---|---|
| WMA / PFA range, GA resident | Cheapest license WRD lists for access: one-day combo hunting & fishing | $5 |
| WMA / PFA range, nonresident | One-day nonresident fishing license | $10 |
| WMA / PFA range, you already hold a GA hunting or fishing license | Nothing extra | $0 |
| Unicoi (state park, run by a concessionaire) | $5 range fee + parking | $5 + parking (amount not confirmed, see below) |
| Georgia Veterans (state park resort) | $5 range admission (WRD dataset) + "$10 parking pass" | $15 |
| Victoria Bryant (state park) | $10 adult range fee (WRD dataset) + $10 ParkPass | $20 |
| Panola Mountain (state park) | $10 adult archery pass + $10 ParkPass | $20 |
Parking is charged per vehicle, not per person, so a carload pays it once. GA State Parks says the daily ParkPass "can be used at more than one state park in the same day". The WMA/PFA license or Lands Pass is per person: the Lands Pass regulation (Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. 391-4-9-.06) calls it "an individual requirement".
Children pay less at the state parks. At Panola Mountain a child's daily archery pass is $5. At Victoria Bryant, youth 12 and under pay $5, and at Georgia Veterans they're free, according to the WRD dataset. At WMA/PFA ranges the license rule applies only to people 16 and older.
Cost of a year of visits, one adult
| Option | Annual cost | Where it works |
|---|---|---|
| GA resident annual fishing license | $15 | All WMA/PFA ranges (and fishing) |
| GA resident annual Lands Pass | $30 | All WMA/PFA ranges (access only) |
| Nonresident annual fishing license | $50 | All WMA/PFA ranges (and fishing) |
| Unicoi annual range pass | $50 | Unicoi only; parking extra |
| Panola Mountain annual adult archery pass | $100 | Panola Mountain only ("only valid for the range at Panola Mountain State Park") |
| GA State Parks annual ParkPass | $70 | Parking at state parks, not historic sites, WMAs or PFAs |
So a regular at Panola Mountain who drives in pays $170 a year ($100 archery pass + $70 ParkPass). A Georgia resident who shoots only at WMA/PFA ranges can pay $15. GA State Parks offers 50% off the annual ParkPass for seniors 62 and older and 25% off for active military and veterans, bought in person.
State-park archery ranges
GA State Parks lists archery ranges at Amicalola Falls, Georgia Veterans, Panola Mountain, Smithgall Woods, Unicoi and Victoria Bryant. It says "There is a fee for using the archery ranges which supports their maintenance" and "Archers should bring their own equipment." The four below are in our directory. Fees are as published by the park or its operator on 2026-10-28, except where marked as WRD dataset figures.
| Range | Park | County | Fee | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Panola Mountain Archery Range | Panola Mountain State Park | Henry | Archery pass, daily: Adult (12+) $10, Child $5; annual: Adult (12+) $100, Child $50 (annual archery pass valid only at Panola Mountain). Rules worth knowing before you go: - Georgia Veterans: "Archery arrows must be fitted with field tips." "Children under 16 must have a parent or guardian present." The static range has 5 targets from 10 to 40 yards, and the 3-D range has 15 foam targets along a trail. - Panola Mountain: daily passes are sold at the Nature Center (8 AM–5 PM), or with cash at the iron ranger at the start of the trail to the static range. "We do not provide rental equipment." Lessons cost $20 per person, for ages 8 and up. - Unicoi: the operator's page says the static range is "Open to the public without reservations" but also that "Daily Range usage is by APPOINTMENT ONLY." Call 706-878-2201 before you go. - Victoria Bryant: the park says its range "is managed by the Wildlife Resources Division" and refers to WRD for range details.

What we could not confirm
- Parking at Unicoi. The WRD range dataset lists a $5/day parking pass. GA State Parks' ParkPass page says "Parking in Georgia's State Parks is just $10 per vehicle". Unicoi is run by North Georgia Mountains Authority and Coral Hospitality, and its own archery page doesn't give a parking price. We haven't put a figure on it.
- WRD's range map is out of date on parking. It still lists a $5/day parking pass for Panola Mountain, Victoria Bryant and Georgia Veterans. The ParkPass page and the Georgia Veterans resort page both say $10. We use $10.
- Panola Mountain's age bands. The WRD dataset says adults are 18+. The park's own archery page says Adult (12+). We use the park page.
- Range fees at Victoria Bryant and Georgia Veterans come from the WRD dataset (checked 2026-10-21). Neither park's own page lists a range price.
- Amicalola Falls and Smithgall Woods are on GA State Parks' list of parks with archery ranges, but they aren't in the WRD range dataset and aren't in this directory yet.
